There are about 20 cooks and 5 managers in our group from all over the US and one from Argentina. We arrived a few days before the festival began and were treated to 3 days of whirlwind trips through the south of France. Yesterday, our first offsite, if you will, was to Nice on the Côte d'Azur and their local farmers market. It was spectacular!
These are my favorite pictures…Just looking at these strawberries makes my mouth water. They were like nothing I'd ever tasted! Sweet and earthy and tangy and bursting with juice! We are so used to those dreadful tasteless dry supermarket berries that one bite of this brings tears to your eyes when you realize what you've been missing.
After meandering past all the wonderful stands, we circled back and bought some delicious olives, still-warm baguettes, an assortment of fromages, and a bottle of wine and walked across the street to the beach. We sat on the promenade looking out at the Cote d'Azur, which was truly azure as you can see in the picture above, and feasted on our purchases. La bonne vie! Click here to see the photo album.
