This quote that I keep in my wallet is printed on the tab of a Good Earth tea bag that I pulled off years ago.
I am embarassed to say that that is not how I have lived my life since that fateful cup of tea but I am so proud of and bursting with admiration for my friends here in Paris, Matt & Ned, who are indeed "being the change". In less than a few hours, they have put together a fundraising concert to help the Southeast Asia tsunami flood efforts.
Ned is the Canon Precentor, Organist and Choirmaster at the American Cathedral in Paris (and the founder of the Paris Choral Society in his spare time) and if you looked up networker/ marketer/ organizer/ motivator/ gracious host/ salesman extraordinaire you would see a picture of Matt. Matt could sell ice to the eskimos so between the two of them and many fellow American expats here in Paris, Ned will be conducting a concert at the American Cathedral in Paris within the next week or so. Here is the latest update from Matt, which came just a few hours after Ned's first email was sent. Both are listed below.
Subject: Concert to help our Asian brothers and sisters
Hello All,
Thank you for all of your wonderful responses...too many to get back to each one individually. This is truly going to be a wonderful event, and much needed now that the number of fatalities has surpassed 80,000. Friends at the American Embassy here in Paris have responded with offers of help, and we are currently trying to figure out a date on which it will be held. We are contacting musicians and coordinators and everyone who might be able to help, and we will be sending you updates in the not so distant future. Again, thank you for all of your responses, and keep a keen eye on your email for more updates!
Much love, Matt

Hi folks, As the death toll continues to climb, Matt and I were moved to send messages to certain people to donate 100 dollars each. Then it occured to me that we could possibly do more, if we band together...
...Music can bring more people together than a mere email to well-heeled friends.... Let's do it. Please, let's move on this.... It's a drop in the total bucket needed, but it's something.
Ned
