No, you are not imagining it - a 1985 La Tache and a 1955 Grand Cru Corton!
That's how I want to ring in my 50s - by celebrating all year long! Another amazing dinner Chez Patty this time prepared by the birthday girl herself. She spent no less than three days reducing veal stock to make the foundation for the best Beouf Bourguignon I've ever had - even in Burgundy! Patty followed the traditional Julia Child recipe but if you don't have three days to reduce your veal stock, then here's a link to a recipe for Boeuf Bourguignon I made last year. And if this spectacular meal weren't enough, Patty broke out some wine that would make most grown men cry... it certainly brought tears to my eyes. Bon Appetit!

boeuf bourgignon

chopped parsley ready to garnish

flat bread, raisin nut, and baguette

the star of the evening, boeuf bourguignon with toasted baguette

1976 Rieussec Grand Cru Sauternes

Tarte Tatin with gorgeous raspberries, home made vanilla ice cream

Some very happy campers! A votre sante! Cheers!

tchin, alors!

Happy birthday to Patty - what a marvellous way to celebrate a birthday! I hope my own 50th (in many years time) is just as joyous and filled with sumptuous food!
